이사장 인사말
우리 아이,우리 손으로!?
한국전쟁 이후, 여러 가지 이유로 인해 해외로 입양되어간 이들의 숫자는 적어도 20여만 명이 넘는다고 합니다. 전쟁 후 폐허의 상태에서 당시의 해외입양은 어쩌면 '하나의 축복'이라고까지 여겨졌었는지도 모릅니다. 오늘도 수많은 해외입양인들이 자신이 태어난 이 땅을 방문하고 있습니다. 모국방문의 이유는 제각기 다르겠지만, 대부분은 ‘나를 버린 한국이란 나라는 대체 어떤 나라일까?’라는 공통된 질문일 것입니다.
한국 땅에 첫 발을 내딛으며 그들은 ‘이렇게 잘 사는 나라가 왜 나를 버렸을까?’하는 의문과 함께 ‘말 못할 어떤 사연들이 있기에 부모님이 나를 포기했겠지.’ 하는 서운한 마음에 만감이 교차될 것입니다. 그들 중 어떤 이들은 한국 땅에서의 정착을 시도하려고 하지만, 이 땅에서의 삶은 그리 녹록하지만은 않습니다. 사단법인 '둥지'는 본의 아니게 한국 땅을 떠난 모든 해외입양인들의 안식처로서, 친구로서, 형제, 자매로서 가족으로서 여러분들의 보금자리가 되려고 합니다.
해외입양인 여러분! 여러분들은 혼자가 아닙니다. 여러분들과 함께 '둥지'가 존재합니다. '둥지'는 여러분들의 울타리로서 사랑의 버팀목이 되도록 노력하겠습니다. '둥지'는 또한 제삼세계의 어려운 이웃들을 위한 해외원조 사업도 함께하고 있습니다. '둥지'는 이러한 우리들의 작은 몸짓을 통하여 세상이 조금이라도 밝아지고 아름다워지기를 희망합니다. '둥지'의 사업에 함께 하시는 '둥지'의 모든 후원자 여러분들께 감사의 인사를 드립니다. 여러분들의 하시는 일들 속에서 의미있는 결실들이 알알이 맺어지기를 기원합니다.
Our Child,Our Responsibility!?!?
After the Korean War, at least 200,000 people were adopted overseas for various reasons. During a post-war ruin state, overseas adoption at that time was considered “ones blessing.” Now countless overseas adoptees are visiting the land where they were born. There are different reasons people come back to Korea to visit, but a common question is “What type of country is Korea, that abandoned me?”
Taking their first step on Korean soil, adoptees could have mixed feelings. Some questions could come to mind such as “why did such a well-off country abandon me?” and “my parents must have given up on me because of some stories they can’t tell me.” There are some adoptees that try to settle down in Korea, but life here is not very easy. Nest, a private organization, is a haven for all overseas adoptees who have left Korea unintentionally, and it will be your home as a friend, brother, sister and family.
verseas adoptees! You are not alone. Nest is with you! “둥지” is your fence and we will do our best to support you. Nest is also involved in overseas aid for neighboring third world countries. Nest hopes to make the world a little brighter and more beautiful through our small gestures. I would like to thank all of the sponsors that help support Nest.
